Dress Code Reminder for League & Representative Matches

Let’s play with pride—and in the right kit!

As we continue our season of competitive bowls, we’d like to gently remind all players of the official dress code for matches played under EBF, EBA, and Bowls England rules.

Approved Match Attire:

  • Team shirt (if issued), or a plain white shirt/t-shirt

  • Grey tailored trousers, shorts (no more than 2” above the knee), culottes, skirts, or skorts (assessed individually)

  • Flat-soled bowling shoes

Not Permitted:

  • Jeans

  • Tracksuit bottoms

  • Cargo trousers or cargo shorts

  • Non-tailored shorts

Social Bowls Attire:

For casual or social sessions, a relaxed dress code is encouraged. However, flat-soled shoes remain mandatory for safety and green protection.

Additional items such as waterproofs, base layers, or leggings do not need to match club/county colours. This helps keep the sport accessible, comfortable, and inclusive—without the pressure of bespoke gear.

Important to Note:

A representative from the EBF or EBA may inspect attire at any time during matches.

Non-compliance with the dress code may result in a 4-point deduction under Rule 6 of the Rink League Constitution 1.

Let’s keep Clee Bowls Club looking sharp and professional on the green.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued commitment to the spirit of the game!
